There is no prize money at the Rhodes Run and there never has been. There are a few floating trophies, most of them hand thrown by Jim Ngxabazi at the Ikhwezi Lokusa pottery school in Mthatha, which provides sheltered employment for potters in the area. Each one is named for somebody who mattered to this race.

Woman Winner: Peter Jooste Memorial Trophy
Created by Jim Ngxabazi at the Ikhwezi Lokusa pottery school in Mthatha. Peter Jooste was one of the founders of the event and secured the initial sponsorship that enabled the Rhodes Run to be established.
King of the Kloof: Founders Trophy

Queen of the Kloof: Ikhwezi Lokusa Trophy

Men's 40+: Matthew Wimpey Memorial Trophy
Matthew Wimpey was the son of one of the original organisers of the event, Brian Wimpey. Matthew died tragically from an asthma attack at the age of nine.
Men's 50+: Reinhard le Roux Trophy
Reinhard le Roux, number 18, was one of the founders and chairman of the original organising team. The trophy was donated by Sham Singh, number 13, the only Pioneer to have completed every event.
Men's 60+: Pioneers Trophy
In recognition of the Pioneers, the seventy finishers of the inaugural event in 1989. The trophy was donated by Sham Singh, number 13, the only Pioneer to have completed every event.
Men and Women 70+: The Petard Trophy
Petard is from the Norman French peter and the Latin peditum, to break wind. In other words, a fart. Since at seventy plus most of these participants are past their youthful prime, it is an appropriate trophy for our old farts.
Women's 40+: Evie Raubenheimer Trophy
Evie Raubenheimer has been involved with the event since its second year in 1990 and was Race Director from 1998. The trophy was donated by Danny and Pam Holton, numbers 14 and 68. Danny completed his thirtieth consecutive run in 2018.
Women's 50+: Raubenheimer Trophy
In recognition of the Raubenheimer family, who have been involved in the event since 1990. The trophy was donated by Sham Singh, number 13, the only Pioneer to have completed every event.
Women's 60+: Singh Family Trophy
In recognition of Sham, a Pioneer, and his family, who have been involved in the event since its inception. The trophy was donated by Sham Singh, number 13, the only Pioneer to have completed every event.
Best Feed Station: Chairman's Award
This prestigious award is voted for by our finishers, who decide which feed station was the best in their view.
