The principle
A core principle of the Rhodes Run is to ensure that the broader community of Rhodes benefits from the run. A portion of the revenue generated by the run is donated to local initiatives to address pressing needs in the community. Runners and support crew are also encouraged to donate clothing, especially athletic clothes and shoes, to support local runners and fund entries for those who cannot afford to take part.
What runners bring
Runners and support crew are asked to donate clothing, specifically athletic clothes and shoes. The athletic gear is donated to local runners who are developing their careers and working towards taking part in the Rhodes Run in future. Other items are sold at preloved markets to raise funds to assist runners who cannot afford the entry fees and costs associated with attending the Run.
The aim, with current and future donations, is to assist young people interested in the sport, and to build on projects that can teach residents skills to improve their lives.
