Cut off times
- Mavis Bank Farm check point, approximately 13km. Runners arriving more than 2 hours after the start may be required to abandon the race, at the Check Point Chief’s discretion. After 2 hours 30 minutes runners must abandon the race
- Runners who fail to reach the Border Road check point at the top of Mavis Bank, approximately 21km, within 4 hours 30 minutes of the start must abandon the race
- Runners who fail to reach the Quarry check point, approximately 29km, within 6 hours of the start must abandon the race
- Any runner who has not crossed the finish line by 16:00, 9 hours after the start, must abandon the race when approached by an official sweep vehicle
- To receive a medal and be recorded in the results, runners must finish by 16:00, within 9 hours of the start
Check points and tags
Runners must ensure that the timekeepers at each check point record their entry and exit.
Â
If you retire from the race you must hand your race tags to the timekeeper at one of the official check points or at the finish. If you retire without handing in your tags, or you do not hand in your tags at a check point, you will be regarded as lost. A search and rescue team will be dispatched and the cost of that search and rescue will be billed to you.
Mandatory kit
Every runner must carry, for the full duration of the run, the emergency survival blanket issued at registration, their own whistle and a rigid or collapsible heat proof cup. Kit checks may take place on the route, and a runner without all three items receives a 60 minute time penalty, served on the spot.
We are strictly disposable product free at our feed stations, which is why the cup is not optional.
